In 1994, upon the initiative of our colleagues Héctor Acosta and Nina Marentes, the Colegio Mexicano de Intérpretes de Conferencias (CMIC) established the Malintzin® Award as this collegiate organ’s recognition to members of the profession who have stood out from their peers for their ethics, professionalism, solidarity, and fellowship, and who have fostered respect, the welfare of others, and have lent dignity to the profession.
